Medical care for older adults, covering falls, memory, frailty and medication review.
Your health. Our priority.
In an older patient the aim is rarely one cure. It is keeping somebody steady, independent and out of hospital.
- A full review of every medicine, since the commonest treatable problem in older adults is the prescription list itself
- Falls assessed as a medical event rather than an accident, because most falls have a cause that can be treated
- Memory and mood assessed alongside the physical problem, not left for somebody else
- The family in the room, because they see what happens between appointments

Questions, answered.
Common questions about geriatric medicine care at Humayun Hospital.
My parent is on nine tablets. Is that too many?
It may be. Nine is not automatically wrong, but any list that long deserves review. Bring every box, including anything bought without a prescription, and we will go through what each one is doing.
Is forgetfulness just part of getting older?
Some is. Forgetting a name is different from getting lost on a familiar route or struggling with money. If daily life has changed, it is worth assessing rather than assuming.
My mother has fallen twice this year. Does she need to see anyone?
Yes. Two falls in a year is a warning, not bad luck. Blood pressure, vision, medication and muscle strength are the usual causes and most are treatable.
Can the family come to the appointment?
Please do. Families notice the changes patients do not mention, and the plan only works if the people at home understand it.
