Expert treatment for bones, joints, sports injuries and joint replacement with modern surgical techniques.
Your health. Our priority.
The most useful thing an orthopaedic department can tell you is often that you do not need surgery.
- Conservative treatment offered first where the evidence supports it, with a clear point at which to reconsider
- Physiotherapy in the same building, so rehabilitation starts immediately rather than being arranged later
- Imaging on site, so a diagnosis does not take three appointments
- Surgeons who explain what an operation will and will not fix before you agree to it

Questions, answered.
Common questions about orthopaedics care at Humayun Hospital.
Do I need an MRI for knee pain?
Often not. An X-ray and an examination answer most knee problems. An MRI is arranged when a ligament or cartilage tear is suspected, or when a decision about surgery depends on it.
Can knee arthritis be treated without replacement?
Frequently, yes. Weight, muscle strength, medication and injections manage a great deal of arthritis for years. Replacement is for pain that limits your daily life despite those.
How long is recovery after a knee replacement?
You will stand within a day or two and walk with support before discharge. Most people are comfortable in daily activity by six weeks, with strength continuing to improve for several months.
Is back pain always a disc problem?
No. Most back pain is muscular and settles with movement and physiotherapy. Pain going down the leg, numbness or weakness is what makes a disc more likely and needs assessment.
