Care for arthritis, autoimmune and connective tissue disorders.

Care for arthritis, autoimmune and connective tissue disorders.

Consult a Rheumatology Specialist

Your health. Our priority.

In inflammatory arthritis the damage happens in the first two years, which is why the first appointment matters more than any that follow.

  • Early inflammatory arthritis seen quickly, because delay is measured in permanent joint damage
  • Disease-modifying treatment started properly rather than managing pain indefinitely
  • Blood monitoring organised so medication can be continued safely for years
  • Physiotherapy alongside medication, since function needs both

Questions, answered.

Common questions about rheumatology care at Humayun Hospital.

How do I know if my joint pain is arthritis or just age?

Morning stiffness lasting more than half an hour, swelling in the small joints of the hands or feet, and pain that improves with movement all suggest inflammation rather than wear. Those deserve blood tests.

Do I have to take medication for life?

For rheumatoid arthritis and similar conditions, usually long term, though doses are often reduced once the disease is quiet. Stopping early is the commonest reason disease returns.

Is gout caused by diet alone?

Diet contributes but is rarely the whole story. Most people with recurrent gout need uric acid lowering medication, taken continuously, not just when an attack starts.

Why do I need regular blood tests?

Disease-modifying drugs are effective but need monitoring of liver, kidney and blood counts. The tests are what make it safe to stay on treatment for years.
